Olives and the ancient world

We will be looking mainly at the Greek and Roman Empires. Food was very different in these times. Olives were part of what is referred to as the "Mediterranean Triad." This included: grains, olives, and vines. For a very long time, these were the three most important crops to the empires. In fact, the mediterranean is said to stop where the olive is no longer able to grow.
